I'm so pleased to get to show off my latest creation. Technically, it's my third quilt, but it's the first time I've tried to do everything "right." It's my first free motion quilting, the first use of my new walking foot, my first real binding, etc. etc. I'm calling it The Blues. It's based on this pattern: www.pbtex.com/PBTex_BEBO.pdf
. Finished size is about 45" x 60".
Anyhow, here's my zillions of pictures--
The whole quilt:
A closeup of each block, so you can see the fabrics:
I really love the second one because the print looks so much like a quilt top guitar (yes, there is such a thing!).
Close up of the free motion quilting. I got better and better as the project went on, and I can't wait to start something new so I can try even more sophisticated patterns:
And the backing and binding:
I could sit here and pick out every single flaw (there's a zillion) but overall, I'm thrilled with how it came out. It's a real quilt.
For now, it's just going to go into my closet because it doesn't really have a place to go in my house. But that doesn't mean that the quilt isn't spoken for. My favorite hangout is one of the best live music clubs in the country. Sadly, it has to host a benefit at least once a year for a musician with a health crisis that can't afford insurance When they have a benefit, they usually have a silent auction, so I'm going to donate this. I can't think of a better purpose for a quilt that celebrates music.
Thanks so much for looking. Suggestions for how I can do better next time are always welcome!
