I wanted to share this. I don't have my own business yet but I love looking at the online shops of fellow Craftsters. So far, I have made 3 purchases from Craftster members. Tonight I was looking at a project here and noticed that the person had links to their blog and their Etsy shop. Normally I'd just go to the shop but I decided to check out the blog first. The most recent post on this blog was very hateful and offensive. Besides being angered by the blog post, I thought that this was a very bad business practice. I'm not saying that she shouldn't have the blog (she is entitled to her opinions, even if they are mean  Tongue), but I don't think having them linked next to her Etsy shop is very wise. Just something people may want to think about when they are linking to their shops and blogs.

He/she may want to do business only with like-minded folks. What you find "mean" may not strike all others the same way.

On the other hand, if you're politically opposed to someone, it's nice to part them from their money so they can't support the opposing party/ideology/organization.

Basically you have to pick yer poison and live with the consequences.

I think blogs are great for posting your personal feeling-whatever they may be. But agree that if you have a business you should not link a very personally driven blog to it. I have 2 blogs, the one linked to my site is business related topics(crafts,previews,etc)- nothing too personal. My more personal(place to vent) blog is in no way attached to my business. If you want to have a successful shop, you can't go around offending potential customers. That is just bad for business.

i have this issue too my blog is a mix bag slash gong show.
a lot of my posts are rambling and trashy but those ones i set to draft after a few hours.
cos i get over it.

really i wanted to have separate blogs but who has the time and energy.
so i just post my most trashy bits in like minded forums Tongue but most people dont mind my semipersonal/shop/craft blog, most people that read my blog arent even customers anyway. so even if i spazz on it a lot, i dont leave the posts up on there, and the few friends that have read my blog read it cos they like me already Tongue

 Undecided
now im all paranoid. my blog isnt that bad.   Lips sealed
