I've been inspired by the upcoming 40th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland and did some small-scale embroidery projects of the three hitchhiking ghosts. If you're a Disney super geek, you'll recognize these three as Gus, Ezra, & Phineas.

I haven't figured out what to do with them just yet. Sell? Trade?

(I don't know why I can't make the images themselves link to bigger images, so I have posted the Flickr URL below the images, if you want to see them larger)

I this these look absolutely amazing.
I don't know if you use a pattern, but I thing you managed to capture the 'statue' of the ghosts very good.

Love them! These are really well done!

Hubby and I have been to Disneyworld 4 times - the first time for our honeymoon, and the Haunted Mansion is one of our favorites. Smiley I love the puns on the tombstones. Smiley

These rock my socks! My husband is a HUGE fan of the Haunted Mansion (so big that we even have some of the original blueprints in our house) Did you do the patterns yourself?

Thank you everyone for your kind words! I suspected there might be some Mansion Fans on these boards! ;-)

I didn't really use a pattern. I used the image from the ride poster as my inspiration and sketched a stickman outline on the fabric and then stitched over it. It was pretty free-hand, so they're not exactly perfect. I did a couple of variations that were more detailed, but since they're so small, things like eyes got lost in the stitching, so I settled on these with just broad outlines.

I love the hitchhiking ghosts. They've always been my favorite part of the ride.

I should have mentioned the frames. It was my first time using them (or even seeing them, actually). I got them at Michael's and they're rubber frames. The inside is hard plastic and the outside is flexible rubber in a woodgrain pattern. They come ready-to-hang and everything. My local store had sizes from 4" (which these ones are) up to 10" in ovals and circles. They hold the fabric really tight and when you're done, you're done - just hang it up!

My advice about these wood patterned ones is that they can sometimes leave a bit of a color mark on your fabric. I guess the dye in the woodgrain isn't colorfast, so it can smudge. I only saw this once in about a 1/16th inch area on another piece I was working on, but it's something to keep in mind.

My local store has some in solid colors too (without the faux woodgrain) and I bought some of those too, since these were so nice to work on.

Thanks Miss Disney! These actually come together pretty quickly, If you're interested in a set for your 'adopted mom', send me an email, maybe we can work out a trade instead of money?
