Simple patchs and knots and a question

My Grandma use to make these blankets all the time when quilting got to tedious for her. She was in the process of making this one, all that was left was the tieing/knotting, when she passed away. My parents gave it to me to finish with the plan that when I finished they were going to give it to a family member who didn't have a blanket yet.
Well that was three years ago, I don't live in the same state anymore so I was able to put off dealing with my Grandmas death for a long while. Due to this every attempt at finishing the blanket led to a huge crying fit and brought up way to many emotions for me. Finally got around to coming to terms with all of it and started doing the knots.

I never realised how hard it was to photograph a blanket, lol. How am I suppose to get it all in one shot  It's a mystery

My question is did I do enough knots? They are at the corner of every square, so they're 3 1/2 inches apart. I know my Grandma use to do a lot more but I think it looks really cluttered like that but should I add more? It really needs washed so please let me know.

I really like this quilt.  I think there are plenty of knots in it.  You did a great job and paid quite a special tribute to your grandma.

Nice job on the blanket.  I am glad that finishing it was cathartic for you.  I hope whoever gets it appreciates your work on it too. 

I think 3.5 inches apart should be fine.  It depends on your batting.  A lot of them state on the package how far apart quilting can be to prevent shifting.  I have yet to see one that needs to be quilted less than 5 inches apart. 

As far as fitting the whole thing in a picture.  I usually lay them on my bedroom floor and then stand on my bed.  Or you can use pushpins and hang it from your wall.

Thanks guys I'll put it in the wash today, who knew that three years in my craft room with two cats using it as a blanket could give it a funk. I really am amazed my cats are that dirty.
It was a good healer, crafting prevails over therapy yet again.

I still have the very first quilt I ever made which I tied.  I use it everyday.  3 1/2 inches is perfect.  What a lovely keepsake.
