I get kind of bored of baked beans right out of the can.  Sometimes I mix them with veggie hot dogs, sometimes I add a little honey and mustard....but aside from that, I don't know what to do with them.  Does anyone else mix anything with baked beans?  I was thinking rice might be good.  What are some other options?

Thanks!

Fry or poach an egg, and put that on top of your beans. On top of toast. Cheese too.
That is, if you eat eggs.

add some chilli powder, or curry powder, and have them with a baked potato, or the rice
also saute some onions and mushrooms and add  to the beans, Smiley

I'll second the onions & chili / curry powder - very tasty!

Or add a teaspoon of marmite just before serving (depends if you are a marmite fan!).

Often I'll add baked beans to a veggie casserole or veggie cottage pie to add a bit of bulk & flavour.

I used to mix my baked beans in with some broccoli and mashed potato and then have it on toast with cheese melted over the top.  That was pretty tasty.  I also sometimes use baked beans as a nacho topping and I've heard that baked bean pies are pretty awesome too.

Hello

briefly, whilst travelling, I worked in a backpackers kitchen.  they used baked beans as a base for vegetarian fajitas/burritos style wraps.  We added some chopped vegtables, like peppers, onions etc and some mexican spices.  i never had one (!) but they used to sell quite well, it seems like an easy one to play around with to suit different tastes!  Cheesy

I LOVE baked beans.

* Baked beans on buttered toast with cheese on top
* Get some crackers (jacobs cream crackers are best I think) and top with a slice of cheddar cheese and a spoonful of baked beans = hors d'oeuvres!
* I like to put baked beans on top of a burger and inside a bun and eat it that way
* I make scrambled eggs and then mix the baked beans in and eat it with toast and sausages = breakfast
* Get a bagel and toast it, then top with baked beans and then cheese and broil/put under a grill = yummy mini pizza!

I don't think you need to add any flavour to baked beans because they are so delicious, but in the USA the baked beans aren't as tasty. You need UK style Heinz baked beans - there is no substitute!
