Ok, I feel stupid for even having to ask, but I am new to the city and have been having a heck of a time trying to find ACRYLIC YARN. This stuff is pretty ubiquitous in most craft/fabric stores, but for some reason I haven't been able to find anything but natural fibers. I need a good selection of colors since I use the yarn for amigurumi. Anyone have any suggestions? I can't venture out into the farther suburbs at the moment since I don't have a car, so it's subway, bus or GO Train for now.

Thanks!

I get all of my acrylic needs at zellers Smiley For the higher up stuff, I usually go to a specialty yarn store. But zellers has a good selection and their prices are usually quite reasonable, especially during sales.

I'm not sure if every single zellers carries yarn though so you may have to do some exploring there

I think the mary maxim at yonge and eglington has acrylic. There's also a walmart in the mall on dufferin just below bloor, and dollar stores all over. I'm also pretty sure Romney Wool (On Queen just west of bathurst) has some blends in the basement area. You might be able to thrift some too.

When I get acrylic yarn in Toronto I get it at Zellers.  I prefer to buy my yarn at Michaels, but there isn't one that is actually *in* Toronto.  The city is surrounded by Michaels, but currently the TTC does not go to any of them (without extra fare, anyway).

If you have a car, though, we *are* surrounded by Michaels stores.  They have them in Mississauga, Woodbridge, Brampton, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Ajax... You get the idea. ^_^

The Mary Maxim at the Yonge-Eglinton Centre is a good place to go, too.  It's a small store, but they will bring in anything from their huge store/warehouse out in Paris, Ontario for free if you ask them.
