I made this for my final year degree project. Since I'm doing a product design course, it is a bit of a stretch. The idea is to use knitting as a creative media to revive a structure that's os widely available yet unappreciated. The pattern is available for download at www.knittedchairs.blogspot.com
Let me know what you think!

ETA: the blog have since moved to www.knittedchairs.wordpress.com

I thinks that's a really great idea! My office chair at home needs a cover of some sort and I was thinking of sewing a fabric cover but I like this idea much better! Just fantastic! I hope you get a good grade in your design class!!

That is crazy awesome!  Is it stuffed, or is it a cozy?  Talk about no cozies without irony!

Oh, and the project totally makes sense.  I stumbled upon an article the other day, about a girl who knit a sports car for her thesis.  I love this whole knitted "stuff" trend.  It's fantastic!

I'm really excited to see this post. I snag this awesome vintage chair from my granny and one of the woven sides is busted. I've been thinking about crochet two matching side panels. But I could figure out hot I would secure it. Huh
Duh, just crochet a whole chair cover. Thanks a Million. Grin

Wow, you knitted a chair? You knitted, like, a whole chair? I'm impressed, I can barely crochet a scarf, let alone knit a chair [laughs]

Thank you guys!!
Seriously, this didn't take me that long, it only took about 800 yards of yarn! And there's no seaming, just  15 stitches to graft at the top, super easy!
I didn't stuff it or anything, but it's super cozy! Much warmer than our faux leather sofa  Grin

Thanks for the lovely comments everyone! Please be sure to let me know if you ever decide to knit one!
Here's another one that I knitted.

It's a mini version that uses less yarn. I used 10 skeins of Sirdar Bigga, and that's only like 440 yards of yarn!

And here are some amazing ones that other knitters have made:

Hope I've inspired you all to knit one!  Grin
