Extra life anyone? (Now with pattern)

I managed to get a picture of this 1UP Mario mushroom before giving to my lil' sister. She wanted a key chain. I put it on a swivel clasp, so she can clip it on her shoe, phone, or wear it on a chain, too. It was beaded with delica beads in peyote stitch.
I'd love to bead up a fireball flower sometime. So much to do...

I like this idea so much more than the perler beads and x-stitching versions. It jsut looks so professional and neat. I'm going to bookmark! I think you could probably do this sort of thing on a bead loom too!

I like x-stitch and perler beads, but I have to say this is a really beautiful and unique way to do pixel art! Super cute and classy at the same time. I love the texture of the beads!

Did you make the pattern yourself? If not, where can I get my hands on it, and if so, would it be asking too much to ask you to share it? I'm not strong on my peyote stitch (just know how to make lacy circles, tubes and flat rectangles) and can't work out how you got the different widths. Are they several pieces stitched together, or did you make it in one go?

I did make the pattern up myself. I'm at work right now and the pattern is on my home computer, so I'll try and upload it this weekend.

I stitched it all as one piece, increasing and decreasing in peyote stitch as need be. About.com has a good page on decreasing/increasing.

The diagrams you'll need to follow would be "increasing on the edges" and "decreasing on the edges".
