I can't help but noticing these zippered flaps everywhere from Mark Jacobs to Besty Johnson. Does anyone know how to add these flaps to a handbag. I have included a picture of what I mean.  http://bagbunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/betsey-johnson-rock-star-hobo.jpg

I believe you would need to make the flap, inserting the zipper.  Then turn the bag through the open zipper.  Or if the zipper is too stiff, turn it through an open side seam that you will later slip stitch or top stitch.

As a side note, those flaps are difficult to get into in a hurry.  They are probably great to avoid a pickpocket.  But I find them troublesome to access myself.
