Okay so... I have a question. I am new to soap making, I have been gathering the stuff to do it for about 2 weeks and am going to start this weekend actually.   I am getting requests from my family to make scents and other wonderful goodies. I was looking at some of the suppliers that are listed on the getting started page on here and found Appalachian Valley Natural Product's essential oils. Does anyone know about their quality versus the price or could give me any info? I was going to buy some peppermint from a local Co-Op store (this is like a wholefoods but on a much much smaller scale)  but I may have been convinced otherwise from some of you on here about their price being a bit high versus the quality of their product. I have yet to even make a batch of soap but am planning on all the scent combinations that I can see which is terribly bad for both me and my wallet but oh well you only live once right? Sorry about the long post, I tend to ramble a little.

I haven't used them, but if they are on the list someone on Craftster recommended them to us. I had the person's name who recommended them on there but that must have been edited out at some point...

Reading through this and making wishlists!  I've wanted black pepper EO for so long, but it is so expensive... sigh.  Maybe someday.

I know it's the season to start thinking about pumpkin and cinnamon, but I went through my FOs yesterday and am absolutely dying over yuzu and cucumber mint.  Think I might go whip up a batch of summer later, season bedamned!

What are y'all sniffing these days?

black pepper is gorgeous, i use it occasionally in perfume and nothing else quite hits the right mark. so i would personally say if you can spare the money, it's worth it.

what am i sniffing? this week (actually, this month) i've been playing with cannabis flower essential oil, it's incredible! so very sad that it's not allowed to be sold outside of europe, all of you americans are missing out there!

Has anyone tried Brambleberry's Beau Brummel fragrance?  I'm intrigued--it sounds either fabulous or kind of gross.

&/or--can anyone recommend a good honeyed tobacco FO?

An update, if anyone's interested--I went ahead and got 'Beau Brummel' and it's actually great--a very mellow, cologne-type fragrance.  (I was nervous; I feel like "black tea" FOs can sometimes go horribly awry.)  Haven't soaped with it yet, but it's nice OOB....

Disappointed in "Coffee Beans" from WSP, which smells exactly like fresh coffee OOB, but fades incredibly quickly into a sort of muddy chocolate in CP.  Bummer, bummer, bummer.  I'm going to have to hunt for a new coffee FO.

Hey RR, do you think Beau Brummel would go with Leather FO?  Has anyone tried the BB Leather, Musk, or Bay Rum?  I want to do a crazy cowboy batch, I'm looking for the manliest scents ever haha!  I'm going to add whiskey to it too
