My prototype turned out so good that I've gone ahead and started all of my birds doing the same steps. I'm about half way through the construction stage right now.

I've used wool scraps to stuff before and liked the way it turned out. Fabric scraps works too.

I'm busy finding alternatives to polyfill stuffing. I have a small wad but you can't really buy it here.

Any ideas for substitutes?

(Oh and I nearly posted this beginning "I'm busty and finding..."). I should learn to type!

If you could buy an inexpensive pillow (or cushion), you could use the stuffing from it.  Or a stuffed toy that you can bear to tear apart.  I use everything from my fabric scraps to lint collected in the dryer lint trap when I've been drying towels and things that produce a lot of lint Smiley  But I'm trying to remember if my friend's dryer in Sweden had a lint trap, maybe that's just an American thing?

No clothes dryers here. It's more fashionable to hang your washing out in the street from the trees.  Shocked

Thanks for the stuffing ideas. I never even thought of buying a cheapo cushion or soft toy.

Its still the drugs!  LMFAO
you have been cracking me up!

Pleased to hear it. Unfortunately the other teachers who live in my building would not agree. Apparently there is a curfew for using fireworks. Who knew?

I am feeling sooo much better without the crazy meds...

Checking in- everything's coming a long pretty well... I had to completely re-do one bird when I finished it, showed it to DH and he said "No offense, but it looks like a sea horse. Can I keep it?" I wasn't really happy with it anyway. So now he has a sea horse-ish looking thing to put on the Christmas tree this year.

I just got back from out of town, and the studios at school open today, so I can really start crafting hardcore. Can't wait!

As soon as I finish my paper craft challenge, this is my only project.

Just a question--are we required to make stuffed birds out of fabric? I can do that, but I was planning to make a couple out of paper. I thought we could make the birds out of anything we wanted, but it seems like everyone is making stuffed birds...

I was originally going with stuffed, but after a few tries, I very well might revert to my papercrafting comfort zone.
