My daughter isn't a fan of knit sweaters.  When she sent me this link and strongly hinted that she wanted this for her birthday I couldn't refuse.  (Well, I could, but it was a significant birthday and she is living away from home going to university - her first birthday away from home)

Alot of people have made this sweater.  It is gorgeous.  I converted the pattern to a cardigan because it is much more versatile.  It came out pretty cute, I think

We opted to omit the button eyes for now, because Amy thinks they will get caught in her coat, and there is no way she is mending button eyes.  We are still experiencing winter here so sweater/coat layer is neccessary.

Here she is trying it on at the airport on her way back to university after midterm break.

The yarn is elann's superwash chunky.  I knit the largest size.  It took 12 skeins.  Its a nice flattering sweater for a chunky yarn.  And super fast to knit too.

That looks great Smiley And I personally love cardigans more than sweaters anyway.

Me too.  I get way more use out of a cardigan.

It is a lovely adaptation, and the color and yarn fit the pattern very nicely. Wonderful job.

Wow, more owls! I love cabled owls, and I love cardigans. That's a great cardigan, the owls look very good where you placed them!
You could still embroider some eyes. It'd only take forever Smiley but look great Smiley
I guess glueing or sewing on some felt eyes wouldn't be much easier, and maybe not safe with the coat.

How do you convert it to a cardigan? I've never knitted a sweater before. :x
