Need help with a knitting pattern

Hi all
I am not such an expert knitter. I am currently knitting a top, and the pattern says "continue until armhole measures 15cm". Is this 15cm from the start of the armhole to the end of the work, or 15cm diagonally? Maybe I'm being a bit duh!

There was probably a row you cast off a few sts, measure up 15 cm from that row, not around the curve.
