I made this guy after watching the first Narnia movie - which reminded me how much I love griffins (and griffons, and gryphons, and all the alternate spelling options).

Here he is, sitting on a quilt I made

With wings extended!

His wings are the only thing I put wire in (mostly because I wanted him to be as cuddly as possible).

His body is made of fleece and his head is a fauxfur fabric I had lying around. His birdie feet and his beak are made of felt, but the black beakring and his eyes are made of sculpey.

A better look at his feet

And a better look at his eyes and beak

He tries to look scary, but he's really just softie at heart.

You lookin' at me?

And just a closer look at his wings, which are made of a few layers of fur felt (and his little tufty tail!)

And closer still . . .

Thanks for looking!

Oh, that's wonderful! I love griffins too. I like the way he's cuddly but still noble.

Awesome job! I'm such a fan of crafting the traditional monsters...

You've done a wonderful job with the fur and the fleece as well. Congrats on such a beautiful monster!
