So, I want to make a real nice and individual clipboard for a friend, I have seen some really nice beautified clipboards on craftster, but
I need help thinking of practical improvements.
Perhaps you have some ideas or just some input what you like or really dislike about clipboards?
(And just to avoid misunderstandings, I'm talking about an A4 clipboard like this

Most Important:
It will be used on a lot of field trips.
The clipboard has to be really well usable and weatherproof.
I usually achieve this by a pen on a string, a sheet of plastic as first layer and a rubber band holding the sheets down.
Any ideas how to add or improve to this?
I thought about a strap but i don't know in which place this would be most convenient.
I have seen clipboards painted/modpodged and sealed with laquer finish or used foil, whats better?
And since I can't quite decide on just one theme or image, I thought it would be really cool to make the images exchangeable.
But I really don't know if this would make it rather impractical...
Thoughts?
I can use a lot of tools(to drill and cut) and a variety of foils, clues, laquers, neodymium magnets and a laminator,
sewing would be no problem, too.
Thanks for reading
