Excellent Challenge! This really inspired me.
I really enjoy early Cake's beat style poetry, it sets my imagination on fire! One of my favorites - Mr. Mastodon Farm, from Cake's first album - Motorcade of Generosity.

"Mr. Mastodon Farm"

Birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.

You see birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.
I can see their dead weight
Just dropping like stones
or small loaves of bread
Past my window all the time.
But unless I get up,
Walk across the room
And peer down below,
I don't see their last second curves
Toward a horizontal flight.
All these birds just falling from the ledge like stones.

Now due to a construct in my mind
That makes their falling and their flight
Symbolic of my entire existence,
It becomes important for me
To get up and see
Their last second curves toward flight.
It's almost as if my life will fall
Unless I see their ascent.

Mr. Mastodon Farm,
Mr. Mastodon Farm,
Cuts swatches out of all material.
(for the rest of the lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/cake/mrmastodonfarm.html )

I present my interpretation....  SMALL LOAVES OF BREAD falling past my window all the time.,,,

I saw this challenge and had to do it!  I took some muslin I had and fiberfil, and sewed a little loaf of bread with plushy wings.  It's got a cut up wire hangar in holding the wings up and a Macguyver style middle including tape and matchboxes to hold the wings up...  here's some more action photos in our backyard! (Yes.. I live in AZ.. my orange tree is blooming and it smells WONDERFUL!

You can LISTEN to part of the song here!

This song gets so little love, so I'm glad you've made some flying bread to show how awesome and slightly obscure Cake is. I was thinking about doing this challenge by making a "Sheep Go To Heaven Goats Go To Hell" cake. But my lazy bum didn't get to it. All in all I'm glad Cake is represented! Great job!!!

I have fallen in love with your loaves! Seriously! I would love a bunch of those to hang from my ceiling. They are too cute. Definitely received my vote!

Great job! Cake is my favorite band of all time, so I'm glad they got some love.

The line in that song that always hooked me was "Cuts swatches out of all material." -- I bet that's most of us here on Craftster.

You also had me wondering how I could craft "Jesus wrote a blank check"
