when i heard of this challenge I thought -what a better way to display a song lyric then to put it right on a record. The song I am representing here is by the band D.I. and the song is called Venus De Milo. All the drawings were hand drawn, then photo copied, and colored with colored pencils. The blood is acrylic paint and the record is- just a record. My representation is from the first part of the song which is as follows:

You see I first felt death as a very little kid
Those bloody bloody nightmares I wish I had hid
You can see beauty being close to evil
I saw Venus De Milo
Twisted like a twisted brain
Was it hate or was her love insane?
Now they're gone but I remain
I'm just like her now, I'm just like her, I'm just like
She pulled me into the death trap, pulled me into the death trap

the entire record

a little closer

close ups:

I first felt death as a very little kid, those bloody bloody nightmares i wish i had hid

you can see beauty being close to evil. I saw venus de milo, twisted like a twisted brain
Im just like her now, i'm just like her, i'm just like (the me tag)

was it hate? or was her love insane

she pulled me into the death trap, pulled me into the death trap

such clever illustrations!  i like your zombie venus and how the cellar trap looks like a suitcase and yet also a cellar stairs trapdoor.  and the figure under the covers.

Isn't it funny what one sees in mini and then when large?  I LOVED the idea of what you did and the illustrations turned out great.  I have to say though, the reason I looked at it more closely is because I thought it was a geisha and a dragon!  The dragon being the bed and the blood is the rest of it...you know, a parade dragon.  ha ha ha.  It makes it even more fun that I got a second look and a new take.  Wonderful art!
