My cousin, Raymond, is a job recruiter who recently wrote an article titled "How To Land and Protect a Job in a Down Market". From his article:

"Apply for jobs in 'recession-proof' sectors like vice. People tend to gamble, drink and smoke more when theyre stressed."

With that helpful advice, here are my handmade vices:

The beer bottle is decorated with an oval pattern from Edie Eckman's book, Beyond-the-Square Crochet Motifs. The dice were stitched together from six square pieces each, stuffed, then embroidered with white dots. The cigarette pack has a firm cardboard box inside, and its outside is decorated with red yarn stitched around a plastic bone ring. Each cigarette contains a wooden dowel for support.

I rarelyif everindulge in these vices, but my alter ego, Woomi, has been known to overindulge:

He'll never land a job in that condition!

Do you live somewhere where it's still allowed, then? It's been banned in all bars here, and even as one of the die-hard smokers myself I prefer it this way [grin]

Your creations always tend to make me smile. The Nose is still one of my faves.

I think that I  have been crocheting my vices (FOOD) forever. I didn't realize it until now. Since crocheting unknowingly took the place of my mind-numbing eating, while lounging around. I kinda starting to crochet foodie type things. Hummph Tongue

Thank you all again for taking the time to write! I received more of a thrill from your feedback than drinking/gambling/smoking combined! Wink

Crocheted Marlboro Reds?  You are totally AWESOME!!!!! Cheesy  Best use of crochet EVER!
I combined Marlboro with the Lucky Strike logo, mostly because I had poor luck embroidering the Marlboro letters on crochet! Smiley

The only other thing that I would have added is coffee. I'm a barista and people certainly haven't stopped buying coffee.
Coffee is one vice that many of us late-night crafters indulge to extremes, you're right!

hilarious! i would love to try and serve one of my bar guests a beer like that. ha! i would put a cocktail napkin down for them and everything!  Cool
I would love to see your bar guests' reactions if they received crochet beer instead.  Maybe a bar brawl would erupt and smashed beer bottles would start flying (which would be fun because the bottles would be soft & yarny)!

I think that I  have been crocheting my vices (FOOD) forever. I didn't realize it until now. Since crocheting unknowingly took the place of my mind-numbing eating, while lounging around. I kinda starting to crochet foodie type things. Hummph Tongue
Your We-Crochet-Our-Vices theory makes sense! Whenever I crochet, I also munch less.  But if I saw your pizza scarf in person, I would be calling for pizza delivery ASAP! Wink

This is so amazing! Looks like you'll have stable employment with these fine crocheted items.
That would be a dream job! Cheesy
