I originally started this hat for my mum, but I am not sure if she'll be into it. She's more a white oxford shirt lady than a funky rainbow stripe lady. I used Paton's Classic Merino (Natural Mix) and  Noro Silk Garden (279). This was the first time I have used circular needles  successfully, I just used a 16 in. no. 7 as God intended. I figured I'd give it a go before I tried magic loop or 2 circs. I loved it, but I wasn't too thrilled when I had to switch back to DPNs because I realized my no. 7's were otherwise occupied in a beret I am knitting, so I finished up the crown on no. 6's.

I love it! Thanks for the link, I downloaded the pattern. Was the rainbow a variegated yarn?

The rainbow is Noro Silk Garden, it is a subtle self-striping yarn. It only took about 1/3 of a skein, there are about 4 or 5 more colors in the skein. I am thinking about a calorimetry or another striped hat.

It's really pretty!  I love Noro.  Smiley

I really like how it's kind of toned-down with the natural in between the colors.

I love this hat.  I've had this pattern on my radar for a while (I have my eye on most of Jared Flood's patterns, I love his designs), just haven't tried it yet.  I think you did a great job with it.

Thanks!

I love Jared Flood patterns too. This is the first one I have tried. I am thinking about doing a tweed Habitat, but I am not sure I am quite ready for the cables. I love the outcome of cables, but I can almost feel my blood pressure rising just thinking about it!

I really like your hat. The colours of the stripes are perfect with the patons in between them
