Close up on the detail

I went through my reference photos and I found some great Tamarin Monkey photos from the National Zoo. I decided to create a portrait based on them. I really like how this one turned out. It's 8x10 done on velour paper with pastels.

Thanks for looking  Kiss

Thank you so much RaeRaggs, Pi314, TwistedThread, elwynceltic, pinokeeo, and fusbdgt!

They're one of my favorites at the zoo too! The last time I went, I was so lucky because I got to see a baby one. Unfortunately, my camera died so I didn't get any pictures. These little guys are really hard to take pictures of by the way, they don't like to sit still very long.  Grin

gotta give credit where credit is due, non?

seriously, i've never seen anyone manipulate pastels like that, especially around the little whiskers, you make them prominent fuzzy and dry looking, all my experiences with pastels usually come out a smeary, blended mess.

everytime i scroll past this little guy i'm all "awwwww..." and it reminds me to go check what's new on cuteoverload.
