hello all! its been a while since i've posted a project on here

so my boyfriend received his tax return and then let me loose in a Joann's for an hour. so $64 later i come out with this material . its by Alexander Henry, i forgot the actual name of it.
my boyfriend thinks im crazy for making a dress using this material but i love it. its loud and pretty kick ass =P

i used a moditfy version of Vogue Pattern V8184 view c
the things i changed were i added another panel for the skirt because i didnt think it poofed out enough for when i wear a petticoat under it

im thinking of changing the straps to a different color (what do you think?)

upclose view of the fabric

just a pic to show how im going to wear it =P

I think that dress is pretty spectacular.  It looks especially cute with the cardigan.  I think that I would maybe make the straps a bit thinner because they appear a little blocky, but I see no problem with them being black.  But if you're going to wear the cardigan then it doesn't even matter.

You always make such cute vintage style dresses! Cheesy

I sooooo agree with this Smiley I saw the dress and gasped because its sooooo freakn cute! and it is...but I also think the straps are too wide...like a lot too wide. I think they could stand to be like half as wide as they currently are.  I think they are fine being black but if you want more color what about adding some of that squigly rick rack in a bright color? or even those funny dingle balls? might be too cheezy...or it could be super cute.

Anyways the dress rocks

Awesome dress.  I wouldn't make the straps too thin, otherwise they will get lost on your body.  I love the dress and it fits you like a glove.  Great job!

first off, this is adorable. i love love your fabric choice, your boyfriend is the crazy one if he thinks it's too much! it's just right!  Cheesy

and the whole strap thing, when you look at the dress as a whole i think the straps look good, considering they are somewhat the same width as the belt. but if you focus in on them they do look a bit large.

no matter what, it's lovely!  Wink
