Edit #2:
The quilt with it's new owner right after she opened the bag... in a Chemistry room at Purdue... very suiting. Kudos to my deary Caitlan for taking the pics and sending them to me.... shame on me for not uploading the good pics until now.

Okay so awhile ago a fellow Craftster created a post saying she was going to make a Periodic Table quilt for her beau... (user = cherry_blossom55 - final thread = http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=287819.0   original thread = http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=277478.0)

well I had made one in the past for a friend... as I mentioned in that original thread... I say "I" but that's a stretch as it was a joint effort... in the fact that I mainly supervised and sewing the main part... I didn't do any of the quilting of the quilt...

So anyway... I tried to find pics of it, as it was a gift and sadly left my place... but couldn't find any...

So I was inspired to make a new one for a friend of mine that's currently working on her PhD... in Chemistry.

My first quilt that I made from start to finish...

It's not 100% perfect... but...

EDITED

Here's a pic of the final product, taken with my camera phone right before I sent it off into the mail... let's hope Sarah likes it...

heyyyy nice job!! I like how yours is such a different concept than mine, and yet totally gets the point across in a more feminine way. Smiley I saw the thumbnail and got really excited lol.

btw I'm so impressed that you actually made all the white squares. I cheated and gave up on background squares.  that's a lot of work, you must really love your friend!!

I love this!  Now my periodic table throw from the ACS member-get-a-member program looks kind of shabby...  Smiley

Thanks, and yeah... I had decided I was going to make two... For the second one I'm in the process of making I bought the white squares... My hand and mind were still going mental from the first one... hahaha...

She's definitely a good friend of mine, and I hope she enjoys it.

Glad you liked it =)
