Say hello to Kratos from the PS2/PS3 video game God of War in Sackboy form! I modeled him after the pre-order bonus skin from LittleBigPlanet, down to the jagged-edged swords, chain trim, and grumpy faced expression. He features a real antique brass-colored zipper, silver-tone chain trim, crocheted thread tattoo markings, and custom sculpted and painted polymer clay swords which can be held in his hands or cross-slung over his back.

He's insanely cute standing at my desk.  Grin

His tattoos were crocheted with a size C 2.75mm hook out of Coats crochet thread since I am awful at embroidery but pretty good with freeform crochet.

I made a modified head with prominent brow bumps and a closed, handstitched frowning mouth for this one.

The chain accents were purchased from Michaels in a 7yd spool. The swords were sculpted from FIMO and Super Sculpey polymer clay and painted with 3-5 coats of acrylic paint. The clothing was made with scrap stretch knit from my stash and a strip of ribbon from Joann Crafts.

He stands around 8.75" tall.

OMG I MUST HAVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kratos is my absolute favorite Sony character and I was psyched to see them give him a cute makeover in Little Big Planet.  I even had a friend of mine make me a keychain with SB Kratos to put my work keys on (I work at GameStop so it was a must have).  it was even because of the original game that I wound up with a Greek key tattoo.   Grin

I love this so much!

Thanks everyone!

I saw the Kratos Sackboy skin a while back and always wanted to take a stab at making my own version, but I had to make sure my skills were up to the challenge first. I'd seen some other attempts that just didn't capture the right Sackboy proportions or level of detail. I didn't want any OCD gamer/sticklers calling me out!  Tongue

I probably stared at that reference image (and the back view as well as many other Kratos pics) for hours while working on this guy, especially when working on the tattoos and swords. If you are going to spend so much time on a character doll (~16 hours), you might as well get the details right, eh?

He turned out even better than I had hoped. Cheesy

I just happened to have the front image uploaded on photobucket because of the keychain I had made.  I would have posted the front/back view version...but I was lazy.  :p

here's a link though for those that want to see.   Smiley

You totally rock.  I had to say it again.  16 hours?  I can tell you spent a lot of time on it, and yet...it looks so effortless.  God bless Media Molecule for creating a character with so much craft potential.  Of course, I can't even conceive of doing something like this.  So instead I will stand off on the sidelines quietly worshipping.

The end.
