I saw a hat similar to this in a magazine and I've wanted to recreate it.

Is this a stitch in crochet? Is there something close to it?

It almost looks like basic V stitches, but could also be something like this stitch:



This snowflake stitch comes from the Vanna White Binder Collection ( do happen to have the pattern, but haven't had a chance to look at how it's done).   This Link at Crochetville may be helpful though: http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16820  There's a post about a "star stitch" with directions.

ooh wow. i can't believe i didn't see it. that star stitch is one of my favorites.

i think i'll try a larger yarn and hook and see if it resembles it.
