Music, crafts, and dogs...all good.

My entry is a quilt based on the No Doubt song, "In My Head" which is about trying to keep calm when dark/anxious thoughts invade your mind.  I LOVE the lyrics plus the 80s-esque synthesizer is BOSS! I used black and white material for a few reasons: sheet music is black and white and it reminds me of the keys of a synthesizer.  The central panels are my own design, based on the lyrics "I try to think about big fat roses/when the ship starts going down).  To get the lyrics and images I used ink-jet printer paper (AMAZING STUFF!).  I also used vintage lace and tried to get a frayed look, to represent memories and thoughts being blurred/fuzzy.  Anywho, here are the pictures and I hope you enjoy. The piece measures about 1.5 x 1 metre.  DISCLAIMER: this was a piece I also did for an art class, I hope it okay to enter it.

Another close-up, shows distressed edges:

My drawing (scanned and then printed):

Central panel-cluster:

Shot of back and stitching (done by hand):

AND gratuitous puppy-shot:

Here are the lyrics:

I try to think about rainbows
When it gets bad
You got to think about something
To keep from going mad
I try to think about big fat roses
When the ship starts going down
But my head is wicked jealous
Don't want to talk about it right now

[Chorus:]
Long distance
Don't talk about ex-girlfriends
Don't talk about you with out me
Don't talk about your past

In my head
It's only in my head
In my head
It's only in my head

There's just something about you
That gets me in a twist
And sometimes I think
That cupid is just taking the piss
It only takes one word or idea
To send me in real deep
So if you think you're clever
Use the right words when you talk to me

[Repeat chorus]

In my head
It's only in my head
In my head
It's only in my head

I really think I have a problem
I really can't control myself
Why do I get so suspicious?
Do you want someone else?

Cause everybody wants everybody else
Everybody wants everybody else
Everybody wants everybody else

Only in my head...
It's only my head

In my head
It's only in my head
In my head
It's only in my head

[Repeat chorus]

Lets talk about the future
Lets talk about the wedding
Lets talk about Gwen Stefani
Let's talk about how much you like me
And all that

In my head
It's only in my head
In my head
It's only in my head

I love No Doubt! The Tragic Kingdom tour was my first real concert. Weezer opened. Good times. This is awesome, I love your drawing and how you reproduced it! I like the New Friend remix of this song the best on the Everything in Time album!

Thanks for the comments reading them is like a glorious ray of sunshine before I tackle the task of cleaning and doing laundry! I scored pit tickets to see ND in Montreal this June and I am SOOOO EXCITED!  I have never seen them in concert before (aside from in my dreams, haha).

She is a glorious mutt, that looks like a wild hyena we semi-tamed.  She was NOT overly amused by my daring to bother her whilst she napped.  Although I call her a pup, she will be 13 this month!

I really scored an got a bunch of the ink-jet printer paper at a dollar store (!!) and quickly became addicted to it.

Great job! I too am a No Doubt fan. I will be seeing them June 8th. If you have never seen them perform before, they kick ass! I saw them when they toured with U2 and they put on one hell of a show! Enjoy your concert!
