i've been painting with acrylics on unprimed black canvas lately and i've been looking to experiment with more colorful backgrounds.

that sunbrella stuff looks interesting, because it's heavy weight, comes in a bunch of different colors, and wouldn't fade over time, but i'm wondering whether the waterproofing or whatever chemicals they put in it would prevent the paint from being totally permanent. has anyone had experience doing any kind of painting or other projects with sunbrella?

or does anyone know a good source for sturdy, tightly woven canvas (like heavier than that kind of stretchy home-dec stuff) that comes in more colors than just black or white?

thanks so much for any suggestions!

I don't know much about the fabric you are suggesting but... I stretch duck cloth to paint on.  I get it on sale at Jo-Anns for $3 a yard.  My small store has yellow, green, blue, black, camo, red, and a few other colors.  Have you thought about dying a light colored canvas to a color you want?  I hope this helps!
