I've had this idea floating around in my head for a little while and I can't quite figure out if it would be feasible, so I thought it's time to throw it out there for opinions.

What I'm envisioning is a swap where the first person, probably the organizer (which could potentially be me), would put together a box o' stuff, like one of the flat rate boxes I've seen used in other swaps, and send it to the second person.  That person would sift through the box, take anything that appeals to him or her and refill the box with items of a similar value and then send it on to person three who would repeat the process.  When the box gets to the last person, he or she sends it back to the first person who gets everything left in it, which should theoretically be on par with what he or she put in to start.

Does that make sense?  Has there been a swap like that before?  Do you think it would work?

It's definitely an idea worth thinking about.  Sure would take a long time though, unless you put people into small groups of maybe four or five.

I think that grouping folks into smaller groups might make it more appealing just so it doesn't take as long...

I'd probably be interested if you did it that way.

o0o0o0o i used to do this sort of thing in my postcard swapping groups, i believe it's called a "round robin" but i could be wrong, it's been awhile since ive swapped like that, so correct me if i'm wrong lol.  I also think the small group idea is probably best.

The bad thing about this type of swap would be if you have a flaker.

I guess I never thought about flakers, but they do happen.

yeah, Ive had 2 flakers and 1 person back out right after I assigned partners.  Plus a few really slow/late senders.  I really like the idea of this swap, but with the issues ive had in the swap im organizing right now, Id feel sorry for the organizer of this swap if theres problem swappers.

How about only letting people with a certain number of only positive (no redeemed), feedback? I know it seems harsh, but to do this type of swap I think it would have to be done.

I dont think that sounds harsh.  I think its a good idea for this kind of swap.  And if a person isnt eligble to join the swap, theres always lots of other swaps for them to consider.

Almost all swaps are exclusive in some way.  I think this one needs to be exclusive, so I think you are on the right track.

Just bear in mind that just because a person has never flaked, doesn't mean he or she won't flake.  Sometimes life throws you a curve ball, so unpredictable things do happen.

we used to do boxes like this in the doll communities I was a part of.  the biggest issues we ran into were:

1. Boxes being full of crap no one had use for

2. People getting the boxes and going MIA completely.

Just two things to keep in consideration, though I do have to say when we did it and it was done right it was an awesome fun thing
