Hey, so I'm officially new to the boards, (tho i've been lurking forever), and have decided to actually join and make up for lost time by posting some of my stuffs. (and some of the bfs as well)

Anyway, we're ridiculously lucky enough to work at an amazing screen printing shop with two close friends of ours. We print mostly for Canadian and Indie bands, and I do the designs/separations.

And, our boss, being the angel he is, understands our artistic impulses, lets us use the shop on weekends for whatever our little hearts desire, providing we clean up, of course.

Anyway, the boy and I were really just itching to make shirts, so this is our first project that we did a while back.
We're both writers, this is our handstyles. We put them on shirts and foiled them and stuff.

We have the unfair advantage of an actual shop at our disposal, but it's all manual (not ballin' enough for an automatic press) and a pretty involved process from start to finish, as you all know.

Ugh I am totally jealous of your job and awesome boss!  I used to have a similar connection with a lady who ran a t-shirt printing company....my mom worked for her and I could use that big iron press thingamajig whenever but was too young to really know what a great advantage that was so I never really used it!  Man I wish I could now!!!

Black foil is actually bit tricker...

Instead of ink, you run glue through the press, and then place your foil film overtop of the glue, and stick it in a heatpress. Then you peel it back, and voila! only where the glue was, does the foil stick.

You can get metallic ink, its more of a metallic flake mixed in with the ink that gives it a sort of glittery look.

But I bet if you got yer mitts on some black foil, you could just place a teatowel in between and use an iron to just DIY it at home.

I know I am showing my ignorance here, but when you say you are both writers and these are your handstyles, what does that mean?

when she says they are "writers" that means they are "Graffiti Artists" meaning they do graffiti for an artistic purpose or outlet

and "handstyles" are hand written graffiti tags (a graffiti artists signature) done usually with a paint marker, sharpie, grease paint stick or something similar. Sometimes they are done with spray paint, if they are doing it pretty quick to tag a train or a side of a building, a bread truck hahaha
