I tired to make this cake into an hour glass shape. It worked great until I put the fondant on. I had used cool whip in between my layers which is somewhat slippery, but the weight of the fondant made the cake slide and go wonky. I actually really loved the end result. Sort of whimsical.  The cake itself is just white boxed cake with some almond flavoring added. (It makes the cake taste great.)

When I first saw the pic, I was not sure what it was.  I first thought it was a really funky looking, felted top hat.  I still think it would make a cool design for a funky looking felted top hat - but it is an adorable cake too.
