I like the idea of a lasagna garden, peppers, tomatoes and herbs would do well in your area.

I was actually referring to the gardening method, not actual lasagna, though there's nothing wrong with that either Cheesy

I love your gazing ball.  I've been planning to make one myself.

I've been told that construction adhesive is good for putting the marbles on.  It comes in a big tube and you need a caulk gun to put it on.

Your yard is just begging for a garden.  We do raised bed gardening, but we're also up north.  You can always grow tomatoes and peppers, just about anywhere.  In your climate, you could grow anything that needs a longer warm period.  Probably not broccoli or cauliflower, but squash and pumpkin would do well.

Good luck.

Love the gazing ball! So cooool!

As far as gardening goes, pick a sunny spot (that's the number one mistake, trying to grow vegetables in the shade)....There are lots of good garden resources in the Dallas area, including Saturday morning garden shows on the talk radio stations...there are garden clubs, and the Texas Extension service has all kinds of brochures and publications which will tell you what's easy to grow in Dallas.

We're south of you, but I firmly recommend lots of mulch!

I love it! So pretty.

You should grow roses, they actually do really well with heat, also daisies as they grow fast and flower alot.

This is fantastic!  I'm envious not only of your crafty decoration but also of your future garden!

That's surprisingly beautiful! I'll keep this project in mind for when I get a garden of my own.

Tomatoes grow wonderfully in heat, and I've had great luck with green and yellow beans. A word of caution about mint though; it will take over. I had a small garden at my mother's house I planted mint in and it not only took over the whole garden, but the entire backyard. Ten years later it still flourishes back there, no matter how much we pull up...

I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.
