As a small tribute to the coming summer I'll put up a bottlecap earring tutorial.  I have tons of fun making these for my website!

http://members.shaw.ca/exousia/sold/bottlecapearrings.jpg

First you need to get 2 bottlecaps.  So find 2 drinks quick ( DRINK RESPONSIBLY ) and salvage the recycled bottlecaps.  Use a drill press, or hand drill to drill a hole at the top of each cap.  You may want to use a pen to mark exactly where you want it from the inside of the cap.  I suggest drilling from the back of the cap through to the front.  If you do not own a drill you may want to try using a hammer and a nail to puncture the cap.

After you have your 2 holes you may want to gently sand off any metal sticking off the good side so as to not cut yourself.  (Don't scratch your pretty cap!)

Then you open up a jump ring with a pair of pliers, and thread it through the hole in the cap.  Close it upon itself.

Then you take a second jump ring open it with your pliers and put it through the first jump ring.  Before closing the jumpring you'll want to slip on the hook earring.  Close it all up with your pliers and there you have yourself a fancy pair of earrings!

I've been saving bottlecaps for months, but haven't gotten around to making anything yet...I was just thinking the other day that I should look for instuctions and here they are! One question, though...it looks like the edges of the caps are flattened out a bit, which gives a nice little border to the design...is that due to some technique you used or were they like that when you got them?

Cuuute~!  I definitely want some... too bad I can't think of any sodas with cool bottle caps.  How do you get the cap off without getting it all bent up?

I could be speaking out of turn but I think from some experience with bottle cap jewelry that those are unused bottle caps.

Lovely earrings! Bring on summer!!!
