My friends are bring me dinner in the lab tomorrow.  So I whipped up these yummies for dessert.  The cupcake is maple, walnut, and bacon.  They are very light and fluffy.  The frosting in plain ol' chocolate with pecans for fun.  The frosting is really dense almost fudge-y. Everything was from scratch too!

Group shot:

I love that I have a cuisine setting on my camera.  It seemed a bit weird but it looks good.

It seems that different people have an idea of what I am, and what I should be. And then there's me.

I can't wait to eat these tonight!  I am glad they look good.  I got some new tips and I was experimenting with frosting.  I for got to mention in the post the I heated up the frosting to pipe it.  When it is cooled it is stiff!

As for the camera, it has lots of different settings but cuisine is my favorite!  It also has "behind glass" and "firework" mode too.  Silly but fun.

I'm intrigued...is the bacon IN the cupcakes? Did you chop it up really fine, or how did you do it?

They look yummy, but I still have a hard time getting my brain wrapped around bacon and chocolate together.  Good job, though.

These look so very very yummy!  My mind is making the Homer drooling noise.

So down with this action. Is there a possibility of a recipe ?

I have the same camera lol ! I still haven't found a use  for the "auction"  mode.

If you are skeptical about the bacon just think, salty+sweet=yum  For these I cut the bacon into little strips.  Then I fry my bacon so it is really crispy and let the excess fat drip on to brown bags.  I added the bacon when I was mixing in the walnuts at the end.  One could also crispy cook the bacon, drain and run it though a Cuisinart to make "bacon freckles" i.e. tiny pieces on bacon.  This method makes the bacon stronger throughout the cup cake.  While the strips of bacon give a bacon punch! BAM!

I will post the recipe in a few days if you want it.  Do you want the cake part, frosting, or both?  They were really good, a little too fluffy for me, but everyone loved them.  I am making bacon shortbread or chocolate stout bacon cupcakes for Friday.  Any suggestions?

As for auction mode?  Do you know what that is?

I think it takes like somewhat postage sized pics, like what you would see in a preview.....I think.

Yes beer! I posted it here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=277010.msg3132604#msg3132604

I also made maple bacon fudge and maple bacon candy canes.  I just can't help myself!
