Matchbox Swap Round 3
«
on:
February 23, 2009 09:01:58 PM »
We have a Gallery....
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=295242.0
Swap name: Matchbox Swap Round 3
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Plucky1_08
Sign-up date range: Feb 23 through March 1 2009
Date to send item by: March 10, 2009
Limited to a certain number of people?: 50
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO
Age requirement? No but if you are under the age of 18 be sure to get your parents permission before swapping.
Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES
(vdungan has agreed to be a co-organizer if needed)
Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES
- Participant has agreed that he/she is at least 13 years old: YES
- Participant understands that Delivery Confirmation number or a mailing receipt copy is required for this swap: YES
Details of swap:
Find a matchbox that holds between 30-40 wooden matches and fill it as full as you possibly can with tiny supplies. You'll be amazed by how much you can fit in it! You can put anything you want in it, as long as it is craft related. Supplies such as beads, paper, ephemera, postage stamps, brads, buttons, fibers, embellishments, stamped images, stamps, ribbons, stickers, foam shapes, fake flowers. Handmade goodies such as, earrings, magnets, a necklace, charms, pins. If it fits and can be used in a craft, or is a craft it's fair game. You can have 1 or 2 partners -- you will decorate a matchbox for each partner, and you will receive a matchbox from each partner. One suggestion would be to stalk your partner and decorate the matchbox to their likes and dislikes but if you have an idea in your head already, decorate away. Just as long as you decorate and cram as much into the box as you can all will be good. This swap is meant to be a quick, easy, and cheap swap so no extras, if it doesn’t fit in the box do not send it.
Round 1 Gallery:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=153205.msg1523517#msg1523517
Since there is a short crafting period checking in regularly would be hard, so please contact your partner from the get go and check in at some point on the board before send outs. As always if you have any problems or questions feel free to pm me at any point.
If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:
QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap: Matchbox Swap Round 3
Craftster username:
Email address:
Your real name:
Mailing address including the country:
1. Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?
2. How many partners do you want to send to (1 or 2)
3. Do you have a camera and are willing to post pics of your package in the gallery once it arrives?
4. Anything else your organizer or partner(s) need to know?
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.
Also don’t forget:
Please put "Matchbox" in all private messages to help me keep track of them.
When you ship, please PM me and your partner with the DC# (if applicable.)
When you receive, please PM me and your partner to let us know it's arrived.
Feedback will be given once you have sent, received and posted pictures in the gallery.
Read the
Swap Info Guide
to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.
Mail Issues:
Here is a little info about shipping since this swap is so small. Note: All Package Services parcels mailed with Delivery Confirmation must measure at least 3/4" at the thickest point, or be in a rigid box.
In the USA to get a DCN, mail in a 9x12 envelope and insert a rigid piece of cardboard (this will meet postal requirements for a DCN) and outside the USA keep your mail receipt so you can prove you sent in case of lost package.
More information about DCNs, found by amaryllisroze in the previous matchbox swap (all this info is still on the usps site)
a. The surface area of the address side of the parcel must be large enough to contain completely and legibly the delivery address, return address, postage, and any applicable markings, endorsements, and extra service labels.
b. Except as provided in 9.2.2c for machinable parcels, the parcel must be greater than 3/4 inch thick at its thickest point.
c. If the mailpiece is a machinable parcel under 401.1.0 and no greater than 3/4 inch thick, the contents must be prepared in a strong and rigid fiberboard or similar container or in a container that becomes rigid after the contents are enclosed and the container is secured. The parcel must be able to maintain its shape, integrity, and rigidity throughout processing and handling without collapsing into a letter-size or flat-size piece.
If you are going to be late, let your organizer know. "Mailed late with communication" is more likely to get positive feedback than "Mailed late."
Let's have a fun, quick, stressfree swap.

It might be best to check the postal regulations again before you mail. Those are from two years ago and they might have changed the rules since then.

I won't be home tonight but I'll double check the postal site and change or add to it asap. Thanks for the tip, we all know how the postal system is.
And also I have no idea how I missed round 2, I would have joined had I seen it.

In checking out some of the gallery posts of previous rounds, it looks like so much stuff was in those boxes. I want to make sure I am thinking of the correct size matchbox. I have one that measures 2-1/8" X 1-1/2" X 10/16 ". Is this pretty much the size required for this swap? This is the size that some restaurants use for advertisements.

I haven't measured one and don't have any handy right now but that sounds about right. If someone has one handy please let me know otherwise I'll get one tomorrow and measure it for you to make sure.
