Hi! I'm new to Georgia and crafting. I just moved to Moultrie from Nashville, TN and would like to meet people with similar interests. I crochet mostly but I'm trying my hand at other crafts too. If anyone hosts a meeting that I can attend or would like to start a group, just let me know!!! Also, I need to know places to go here in SouthGA in general--- stores, coffeeshops, bars, theaters, everywhere!!! Thanks for your help!!!

I dont know anything about Moultrie other than its pretty close to Albany and there are some great places in Albany . There is an awesome GoodWill with lots of great vintage stuff on Broad Ave. and right next door a great restaraunt and bar called The Harvest Moon they have some great concerts at The Lot which is at the same location . Crafting groups in this area are obsolete I think or atleast I havent found any and ive been here 6 years . Good Luck !

I'm not in Moultrie, but I am in Albany, and my mom lives in Sylvester, which is a bit closer. Like asterandlilly said, there really aren't any craft groups around, and I've been here my whole life. Tongue

Hello, new to the board but not Georgia, i am bout an hour south of Albany...i have enjoyed simple crafting most of my life, crocheting, cross stitch, basic sewing of purses and such...in our town, we only have a goodwill and a salvation army and to me both are quiet high, running along dollar store prices...so as most on this board, i am hoping to run across a handful that would love to start having a craft meet that pretains to crafting as well as recycling/refurbishing/reusing, as i have been trying to go "GREEN" and hope to do my share of keeping stuff/things out of our landfills.

I live outside of Moultrie, in Colquitt County, but I went to high school in Moultrie. I've only just started crafting recently, so I don't know much about local groups. However, the Calico Arts and Crafts spring show is coming up March 21 - 22, at Spence Field. (http://www.calicocrafts.com/) As for supplies, Books & More (on the Square) is pretty good, mostly for acrylic paints and models. For almost anything else, I think you're stuck with Wal-Mart, or with going out of town.
The Art Center is pretty awesome, both their museum and their productions. As for a coffee shop, I've never been, but I've heard good things about Southern Grace Coffee Shop, which is also located on the Square. Actually, I recommend spending at least a few of your weekends wandering around downtown. There are quite a few interesting little stores there.
