i made my first two spring/summer dresses of 2009! i used mccall's m4444 pattern... i am generally pretty bad with pattern directions/sizing and i always have to do a thousand mock-ups before i can actually get to my nice fabric. but i'm so sick of doing mock-ups! so i just ripped into this with my uber expensive fancy-pants fabric store fabric  Roll Eyes no, really, this crap was almost $20/yard. but i think they turned out really nice! i am ready for the weather to warm up now, plz.

i did make one modification to the pattern - i didn't like how the back sits with the extra 2 straps and i hate making buttonholes, so i just extended my straps into a halterneck that i tie. very simple! the entire pattern is actually really easy; i recommend it to anyone who wants a quick lil' dress that doesn't take a lot of fuss.

time for pictures!

this is the first of the two that i made.... I LOVE THIS FABRIC it's so soft and drapes so nicely om nom nom.

you can kind of see the strap in this one.

and the back!

the second dress i made... it doesn't fit quite as well as the first one (not as tight as i typically prefer), but eh i still like it.

this kind of shows the length. i like my dresses short!

and the back.

sorry for the lack of commentary; these are pretty self-explanatory. ask questions if you got 'em! and please let me know what you think Grin Grin Grin

Those are adorable! I love the fabrics and the pattern fits you really well. I think I know what pattern I'm buying next! Is there a lining or anything? Great job!

You did fantastic sans mock-up! They look so breezy and comfortable too, that's a great pattern that I'm quite tempted by! They look great on you. Excellent fabric choices.

thank you!
you should definitely give the pattern a try - it's sooo easy (and i'm kind of an idiot when it comes to patterns Roll Eyes). the only lining is on the bust where the b00bz are, but it'd be pretty easy to draft a lining for the entire thing if you were using sheer fabric Wink
