I was just at Hancock Fabrics and they have a great sale this weekend (and some of it all month!).

Through tomorrow, all of their quilting cottons are 50% off, so I did a little stash building.  Some of what I bought may end up even in this swap!

All month batting is 30% off and quilting supplies are 50% off.

All told, I came away with a twin size cotton batting, about 5 yards of fabric, 3 patterns (McCalls @ $1 each), 2 spools of quilting thread (50% off), one of those nifty new Clover yo-yo maker gadgets that I've been craving and 2 packages of safetypins for under $40.

I swear, it's better than Christmas!

Since we only have 3 spots left to fill, and in the absence of any protest, I'm going to leave sign ups open a few more days in the hope of getting our full 11 swappers.

I'm leaving the send date the same, unless you think we should extend it, since everyone already in the swap can probably go ahead and start cutting their squares anyhow.

And when I send out info on who to send to, my thinking is that I'll just send everyone the addresses etc. as a Word document.  Who knows-- if I'm really together, I may even be able to do it so that you can print it out, cut it up and tape the addresses to your packages for mailing labels.

Let me know if anyone has any problems, okay?

I can't wait to get squares and squares and squares!

Being that I am a postage stamp newbie, what techniques do you guys use for cutting your squares. Do you make templates and trace them or just measure out a grid on your fabric, inquiring minds want to know!

How did I not see this earlier? Thanks for extending sign ups Smiley Just sent in my info
I have a postage stamp quilt in progress and was also in round one so that's where a lot of my little squares came from.

The easiest way is with a rotary cutter and ruler, it will also give you more precise cuts then tracing individual templets.

Are a a quilting newbie too? If you don't already have rotary cutter and ruler it would be a wise investment, one of my most use tools by far.

So in my absence Monday and yesterday, we have actually gotten to 12 people who want in.

Before I tell the last person who signed up that we're overfull, I'll put it to the group-- as long as we're cutting, it might not be too much work to cut 1 more piece of each fabric, and then you'd get more squares in return.  Of course, there is that pesky postage thing.

Would you please signify either here or via PM if you would like to send squares to 11 people, or if 10 is your limit within the next 24 hours or so?

If one person wants to stop at 10, I'll stop things there because that was the original bargain, but since square collectors seem to be fairly rabid, I figured I'd give the group the option to decide.

Thank you!
