Um no, don't really know who she is.

I have honestly never seen canned goats milk, but fresh is easy here in Rural NS, so when I'm done I don't wrap it and let it st for 24 hrs?

Sacrilege!
mullerslanefarm

I don't bother wrapping it if it's in a wood mold, that will get plenty hot. It still needs to stay in the mold 24 hours.

funny..I JUST found canned goats milk..I have been looking high and low when I was in DC..NOTHING!! but here in TX..its at wal mart Wink

Woot woot! Bad DC! Shoot girl, I coulda sent ya some!

You need fragrance oil? Unless you tossed it all before your move, I find that highly doubtful! Grin

Hi everyone!  I've been making my own soap for about 20 years, so have the basics down.  I've tried goats milk soap once before and ended up pouring the batch out in the woods.  It was a gloppy mess.  I've got some goat milk in my freezer and have been meaning to try again but am hesitant.  Can anyone point me to a recipe they have had success with in the past?  I've asked a few fellow local farmer/soapmakers and they all seem to guard their recipes as closely as they guard their herds!

Hey M-Dub! (that's your new soapin name, fyi). I don't think I've ever really used a special recipe for goat's milk soap, just whatever recipe I liked at the time and subbed out the water for frozen goat's milk and tried to keep it cool during the mixing and initial cure. I've really only made a few batches of goat's milk though, so maybe someone else has some words of wisdom on why you would want to use a specific recipe. I can't remember now if I compensated for a lower lye discount because of the additional fat in the milk. Hmmm.

Do you have the goat's milk book by...what's her name? I have it around here somewhere.
