I haven't spun in forever as my toddlers who are 13 months apart got a bit too into the wheel for a while there.  I finally broke my wheel out again this week as they are getting a little older and better able to keep their hands off the wheel.  My daughter who is three and very into sleeping beauty walked into the living room and shouted "oh no mommy, don't touch it" when she saw me spinning  Grin

That is so precious!!

Find a picture of a Great Wheel with a spindle instead of a flyer/bobbin and explain to her that you can't prick your finger with the type of wheel you have.

I'd hate to have her stressing over you hurting yourself.  When she can see that that the wheel that Sleeping Beauty's would have used was different than yours, she'll be okay.  This could be a *real* fear for her.  Silly as it may be to us, toddler's fears are very real to them

thats so cute!!  i agree that you should clarify. My almost 4 yr old seems to think Rumplestiltskin is going to come to our house and take him (as he's the first born)  But I keep telling him I will never need to spin straw nor gold.

Thanks guys Smiley  I did clarify it with her, I showed her the lack of any sharp objects and let her feel the different parts of the wheel Smiley  Today she actually sat with me and helped me draft for a bit so I guess she is over it Smiley

She really did great, she sat right to my side since I'm due in July with a new baby and have a bit too little lap to work the treadles with her on top of me.  She held the roving and practiced moving her hand back and forth with me to draft it out.  It was really cute.  She wanted to try the treadles so I let her but she gave up on that pretty quick as she is tiny and not really coordinated enough to keep them going yet Smiley

This is so precious :-) I'm glad you clarified - toddlers really do get worried, and it's horrid for them! Adorable that she's been helping you :-)

When she was good, she was very very good - but when she was bad she was fabulous.
