one question: did you use any sort of fabric underneath the jersey to stabilize the applique? I've been thinking of doing applique with satin stitch, but I thought it would be too heavy for t-shirt fabric.

These are great! My 2-y-o son likes Foofa too! When she gets sad about not winning at tag (who wins at tag btw???), he tells her to get up and tries to make her feel better by petting the TV.

Oops!  Sorry I'm so late in answering your question.  So, I just used some lightweight iron on interfacing on the inside of the shirt.  I did the Foofa with no interfacing the first time and the shirt actually did rip.  Of course, that didn't happen until almost the END and I wanted to stab myself because I had to get a new shirt and start all over, but it was definitely a learning experience.
