my first weaving project

[miss misery]

i made this scarf in a weaving class i took.  its a twill weave that reverses on each warp color.  i'm pretty sure its wool.

its about 60" without the fringe


i was too lazy to de-wrinkle it, but here's a close-up shot of the twill lines

and an action shot.  i was so excited i matched my makeup to the scarf colors

i used probably the world's oldest table loom to make this scarf.  the teacher questioned my choice of colors at first but everyone thought it was pretty rad when it was finished.

I keep wanting to learn how to weave, and I think you might have just pushed me over the edge

Its really nice.  The colours are great, they look really vibrant with the weave pattern. 

Out of curiosity - how long did it take to do?  Leaning to weave is on my 'to do list' (along with hundreds of other things!).

And someone asked- weaving does take a bit- mostly the warping or setting up part. I like it a lot though, it's tedious and repetitive and meditative....

ha, yeah.  I think I may like warping best, actually.  Not the actual loom warping, of course, but laying out the warp on a warping board.    But I also was working on the world's oldest table loom?  (I have great hopes that working on a proper floor loom would be 10x more awesome.)  It can be a finicky thing, but you get in the zone and the thing is shaping up in front of you, and it's amazing.

I really like your color choices!! It is always the most seemingly random color combos that turn out the most amazing fabrics in the end! I remember my first weaving project we mixed a bunch of different random colors and weaving patterns to kind of try everything out to get a feel for weaving and they were some of the most creative and beautiful projects!! The colors really pop!! Great first weave!
