I wanted a dust cover for my sewing machine. Making a box shape would have been easy, but I found this pattern online and liked the shape:

http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/images/sewingmachinepattern.pdf

I managed the base without issue. The branch took some time but posed no problems, but the flowers!!! I tried several different things, but just didn't like any of them. I looked at pre-fabricated ribbon flowers. They were too expensive. I tried making my own. I didn't like them. Amber said they were too pointy. Smiley I bought some pink fabric to try something else. Then I saw this post: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=290797.0  Perfect!

Here's the cover:

Here's an odd angle (I dunno...) of the pin cushion and thread catcher (with French seams):

I found the bamboo tray in a thrift store--think I've had it for about a year. Love that I'm not throwing my scraps into an empty kleenex box anymore. Tho it was quite handy.

The pin cushion is removable. The thread catcher is held on by velcro:

I'm really pleased with the results!

I'm not obsessed. I'm excessively enthusiastic.

I love the whole set but especially the pin cushion! I also just realized that I desperately need a thread catcher, because it's currently just the floor which always needs sweeping.

That sewing machine cover is absolutely wonderful!  I've been thinking for a while that I should sew myself a cover for my poor naked sewing machine and I think you just gave me the inspiration I need to actually do it.
