I didn't read closely and I just woke up, so I was thinking postcards... then finally the lightbulb over my head went off, at the same time I actually READ the post. Awesomeness! We have an awful z-brick wall behind the sink/stove/cabinets that I've painted but want to cover soon too.

What an awesome idea! I've been thinking about doing backsplash out of bottlecaps but this seems much more practical, and easier!

So over three years ago I did this. The first picture is of the guard over my sink.


Recently we developed a roach problem when some neighbors moved in. Previously the apartments were empty for over a year. So Between the exterminator and Raid I have gotten the problem controlled. However, the splash guards could have been harboring bugs. They weren't as the double sided tape killed anything near it but they are showing some serious wear and tear. The one over the sink has fared better but the one over the stove, well it needs work. So what do you think? Fix? scrap? Go to Lowes and by back splashes at $20+ a pop? Would love to know if anyone else did this, how they did it and if it is in good shape some years later.

Notice the missing pieces and grease on the cards my little butt couldn't reach on a regular basis to clean.

P.S. all the cards were donated from either friends and loved ones or the local Hollywood video that closed down down the street from me. I have new ones from friends to replace the lost ones if I decide to go that route.

Hubby was under the impression I was fixing these and placing them back where they were. Oh boy. Well I got the one over the sink done. The big one will have to wait until I have a nap....He did help. He caulked that makes kitty happy.

Oh how thee failured. This is turning into a Saga of me versus the kitchen. I went to clean the wall and sheets of paint came off.




So now I have to figure out how I am going to deal with this mess. The back splash is recovered just need to clean up some rogue adhesive and put more sealant on it but the wall....well I am not sure how we are going to deal. We might just spray adhesive over the whole boat and slap the back splash back up and call it done.
