Sooo this was a mens XL t shirt, which i then chopped up to make this tank top Smiley

I basically cut a band for the top, gathered it in the middle, then sewed another band on the bottom... then i had to add some elastic in the middle so it fit better...then attached it to another piece for the rest of the top. easy Smiley the straps i kind of copied from a store bought shirt... they are 1 inch elastic and you make the straps to go over the elastic, but a little longer so it bunches up!

what do you all think?

That's great! I love the gathers. It looks like it fits well because of them.

This is a great little tank top!  I especially love the straps.  For the elastic below the bust, how did you sew that in?  Is it just elastic inside sewn to the tank, or did you create a...pocket for it (for lack of a better term)?

thanks! i just sewed the elastic below the bust, just on the inside... nothing fancy... i'm sure making a pocket or a casing would make it nicer though Smiley

I LOVE the color and I want to make quite a few tank tops that are appropiate for school (I always have to have a sweatshirt on to cover straps and the such)

Don't the armpits bug you? They ride up so high on your shirt.

Sweet! I have a Dead shirt that my husband picked up for me on the cheap... and it's 3 sizes too big. I am totally gonna make me a snazzy tank top with it! Well done!!!
