I still have dreams occasionally about a high stress job i left 6 or 7 years ago. They are mellowing as time passes, but still very vivid. usually involving people doing bad things and blaming it on me, or not being able to meet deadlines, etc! SO glad I don't work there anymore, because those things actually happened all the time.

I have had horribly vivid nightmares all my life, but the worse thing about my dreams is that I dream smells.  I can't tell you how many nights I've woken up to the choking smell of my house burning, or the strong aftershave of the person who is leaning over me about to strangle me, or that tangy coppery smell of blood after some mass disaster.  I'm a happy person during the day, but at night I turn into the Queen of Doom.  I even spoke with a doctor once about the smell thing and of course; was told I wasn't actually experiencing the smells.  The odors can actually linger in my head all day after one of the really bad dreams.

Eeep! I guess I'm not the only one who has extremely vivid dreams (and nightmares- blah!). And smells?! Oi! I wonder if it's because we're all so creative and crafty? So many of the people I know can't even begin to remember their dreams. Weird.
Oh, and SapphireMoon, you might want to get used to that nightly chuckling. I've done that since I was little and it still creeps out my fiance when I wake him up in absolutely hysterical laughter ... in my sleep. Haha. I'm a manic sleeper, apparently Tongue

Grin gamemom - I have the same problem - but the smells only happen every once in awhile..you know that dream where if you fall off a cliff/airplane/building and you are supposed to wake up before you hit the bottom? Yeah- not so much - I wake up after I hit the bottom.....

She has NEVER done that before...totally creeped me out.  I have heard her mumble or talk occasionally, even that is a rare thing...but LAUGH, like a MANIAC in her SLEEP Huh  Not in a million years!  I'm sure it's due to the meds she's on for her sickness....and this too shall pass....I hope....IhopeIhopeIhope  Lips sealed

Not to be a Sad Sally, but since we're talking about dreams... I was having terrible dreams about my mom, reliving her death, and then I had a dream where she was a ghost, and then went about 5 or 6 days without any dreams of her (which was welcomed, since when I'd have them I'd be depressed all day).

THEN last night she showed up again (thanks, mom) and I was laying beside her in her bed begging her not to leave me and crying and telling her how much I loved her and needed her.  Sad  Every time I dream about her, she's alive but I know she's going to die.  Just like in real life, except in the dreams she's conscious and acting normal, talking to me, etc.  It stings a little worse than how it really happened because she's seemingly doing really well but I know things are going to go south.

I am really tired of these dreams!  I love my mom and I miss her dearly, but most of the time I'm able to put it out of my head and get on with my daily business.  I really wish I would STOP dreaming about it.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

And I rarely remember my dreams otherwise, so it's annoying that these are the ones I get to remember.

I wish I could have lucid dreams.  I'd go win the lottery, take my mom on a trip, and eat some ice cream, or something.

After my Dad died 4 yrs ago, I had this terrible recurring dream where I was wandering the hospital corridors looking for the place where I made a "wrong turn" so that I could go the right way.  I knew that if I found that place and took the right path, my Dad would live.  I had that dream probably 20 or 25 times before it stopped.  I realize now that it finally went away when I started telling people about it and getting it out in the open.  It lost it's power over me when I stopped carrying around inside.  Good luck with your dreams, I hope they don't last long (or better yet, that they are replaced by happy memory dreams)
