So yeah.  Its been nearly 8 years since I've made an article of clothing.  And here I am making my Debut on the sewing boards.  *squeeee!!!!*  yes, I'm excited.

My husband and I are going to the Valentines dance here in our little town, and I thought why not spice it up and make something.  I've just found this little shop that sells cotton (it is primarily a quilters shop) And they have a really great selection.  I found these two fabrics, got home and started to drape my dress form like a mad woman so excited about the ideas flowing around my brain.  (this hasn't happened to me with such ferocity in ages, zoiks!  it was exhilarating!)

So here it is,  3 days later (and thats nights after the kids are in bed, so about 5hours in total)(not on yet, because I'm going to wait until I'm all dolled up in it at the dance Wink )

Here it is on!!

neck detail (not on me... oops forgot to take a close up on :/)

The only thing I had problems trying to fix was the way the V in the back kinda sticks out.  But oh well, its really comfy and looks good otherwise.  Maybe i'll try to fix it later... or not.  Smiley
I decided to go with snap closure on the neck, because I found a nice necklace and earing set (cheap at walmart)  that I destroyed for the detail at the neck.  So the circle is the pendant and the diamondy thing is an earring.  It is actualy pink but the pick doesn't show that well.
Oh yeah, the dance was a bust.  Which is really sad, As it was for an organization I'm involved in, and I don't think we even broke even.   Cry  To many things at once in a small town makes for a bad dance.

Side pleated insert:

I don't know if you can really see it, but there is some topstiching over the brown in a red to match the darker red of the print.   And yes, my serger thread is a horribly off color to the rest of the shirt, but who wants to change serger thread?  not me.  And you can't see it anyway. I'm the only one that knows... and well you too now......  Anyway...  Also I'm going to be looking for a brooch that matches the whole thing to close the collar.  If I can't find anyting.... I'm still not sure what I'll use.  But I'm sure I'll think of something!

Thanks for looking!  <3

I just serge all the pieces before I assemble.  And then press it where it needs it ( on the seams, at the hem, wrinkles...etc)

oh and I forgot to mention its a shirt....  I almost made a dress... but it ended up to short, so I just hemed it a bit more Wink

Sorry it took me so long to see this, but I love all the crazy little details you added to this.  It looks fantastic.

Have you worn it much since the dance?
