My mom asked me to make her a tote bag for Christmas for a trip we're taking next year. She loves bold bright wild prints and I found two yards of this fabric for $1 at a thrift store and knew right away she'd love it. I made her a clock out of the same fabric here. I'd say making this bag cost a total of about $5 in materials + a few hours of time (the most expensive parts being two zippers and the magnetic closure). I'm doing a totally handmade Christmas this year, so I like to keep track of all the $$$ I'm saving Grin

For the bag, I went off this tutorial by gloriana. I changed it a little bit by not making a square bottom (jordy-style) and it's not reversible. Instead, I used black cotton for the lining and added two muslin-lined pockets on the interior - one large and one small. I also added padding to the straps by sewing in old shoulder pads at the straps' apex Smiley The bag closure is a magnetic snap, the first one I've ever done Cheesy

Let me know what you think, and thanks for looking!

This is a super cut tote bag...that fabric is really cute...love it . I would probably put in a square bottom, just my preference , i like to have my bag have something to sit on when I set it down.
I am totally in love with that fabric. Nice work!!
