When I started sewing my mom gave me some fabric and clothes to pick apart for notions and fabric.  One item she gave me was this tie-dye sarong like thing.  It's really loud and not something I'd wear, usually.  Last night I decided I'd try to make it work for me though.  I need practice any way right?  Si I cut it , pinned it, added elastic and sewed up in to a bubble skirt.  Not exactly how I saw it in my head, but not too bad for my first attempt.  And since it is short and paired with a plain black shirt it isn't too obnoxious.

What do you think?

I'm trying to use my sewing machine to make more than just purses and pillow cases.  Smiley

That came out really adorable and not at all loud and obnoxious. Wear it proud! You did a great job.

The neons combined with the bubble skirt style is fantastic. I really like how you paired it with a black shirt as well. good choice Wink

When I first started my mom gave me practice material too.
That skirt is so cute and I imagine it's way better as a bubble skirt than long wrap!
I am itching to make a bubble skirt now! Looks good against black  Grin

 Grin  Thank you all!

I kind of guessed along the way, while making this.  I sewed up the side first.  Then I made the waist band with elastic.  The bottom hem has elastic too, but a thinner one and that folds up and in the skirt, creating the bubble effect.  The fabric is a little heavier than it should be so it isn't super bubbly, but I still like it.
