a girl in my class was pretty badly scarred by a heavy-handed artist using one needles size throughout an entire blackwork piece. Although not meant to have as much detail as yours, it was still very noticable.
She had ultrasound therapy done to minimize hypersensitivity of the scar tissue, then LOTS of massage therpay to help break down the scar tissue.
She has spoken to many artists and now has an appointment coming up to have it reworked...
Def talk to a couple artists; get a feel for them and what they can offer you. And seriously consider something to break down scar tissue - I'm a big fan of massage (worked wonders on my lobes after I had them cut) but I'm also biased...

Thank you guys so much, I'll have to find a stable local artist. The last couple we have had have moved out of town or we can't seem to get a hold of. Again thank you thank you.  Grin

Well, I made it thru all 579 pages of this one ...  Love all of the beautiful artwork here.  I'm working on the design for my first tattoo.  Does anyone have any recommondations for the Greenville, SC area?  Tattooing (sp) became legal here in the last year so I'm not sure where to go.  My dh works with a guy named Phil Valentine who used to work at Physical Graffiit South in Gville but has since left that shop.  I'm not sure with state regulations if someone who is licensed to tattoo can practice anywhere or just in a shop made for tattooing (sp).

TIA for the help and I hope to have something to show soon.

PonyHuetchen, you have the some of the most amazing black ink I have ever seen.  The shading is exquisite, and the pieces with a hint of color are just beautiful.  True works of art on your body.

i love love love your angel wings. i like how it looks you could fly away if you wanted, instead of them actually looking like they're just flat on your back.

I'm new here but I came across this thread and I love it!!! Everyone has such pretty and vivid tattoos.  Here is mine when I first got it about 5-6 months ago so please excuse the redness around it as well as the blurry picture >.<
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g145/twistedvamp/coloredtattoo.jpg

Its a little fox resting on a crestent moon with a lit lantern hanging surround by starts and swirls, i drew it myself and then took it to a tattoo artist. It took me about a year to finally decided what I wanted. I'm so  indecisive.<
I cant wait to get another, I'm thinking of cherry blossoms or Mario stars!!!! ^_^ Wink

Well...I am not one to brag, but I know that you won't mind here.  I am SOOO happy with my new tattoo that I got last night.  It was hell getting it, but was so worth it.

What do you guys think?

I took a bunch of ideas from online, along with some of my own supplies and some paint chips for the colors.  The measuring tape banner is supposed to be a dirty yellow (called piss yellow by the tattoo artist), but it is funky looking now cuz it is so swollen and red.  The tattoo was done by Rich at Ultimate Arts in Madison, WI.  He is a really awesome guy!  He has also done all of my husbands tattoos.

Hope you like!

P.S.  The buttons represent my immediate family.  From the left: my brother, my mom, my dad (passed away from cancer), me and my husband.
