I posted this here as I don't think it really applies to any other category, however, if a mod comes along and thinks it is better off somewhere else, please make sure it gets there.
I had the idea recently to make a sleep mask(the kind that covers your eyes to block out the light while you sleep). I was bored this afternoon and feeling too poorly to leave the house(I hate being sick!!!), so I thought I would try it. Here is a tutorial followed by several pictures of the one I made.

And my finished product(which is actually too small for me, so I am going to give it to my little cousin for her birthday next month):
up close: Sorry it's blurry; my camera's focus was off.

far away: the straps are attached in the back.

Random picture that shows the velcro:

Hope you like it!

I've been thinking about trying my hand at a couple of these, thanks for the tute!  I love your fabric choice Smiley

I need something like this. I had one before, but it was too small.

What works better than one strap to velcro round the back of the head is two thin elastic straps that go round the head, one above the ears and one below - this helps keep it on if you toss and turn in the night.

I had an elastic one for about a month. It would cut into my skin, and I always woke up with welt-like marks around my ears. Then I got one with velcro and it works wonderfully. I toss and turn all of the time, but it has only come off once.

Really? Huh. Maybe the elastic was just too tight? I used to use a sleep mask - though I don't anymore as I can now sleep in darkness - and I never had any sort of a problem like that.

The funny thing was that it was kind of loose. I think it was just the brand or something. I am planning on making one with elastic but covering the elastic in fabric so that it doesn't leave the marks.

OK, that is quite odd. Covering the elastic in fabric sounds like a good idea.

I think it's just because I welt easily...like if I leave a bandaid on for more than a few hours I end up with 1sst degree burns and blisters. I update once I make the one covered in fabric and let you know how it turns out.

Sound like you might be allergic to latex, I worked with a girl who was, she kept no latex bandaids on her just in case she needed them.
