In high school all the art students (and a lot of the regular students) took pictures they saw from magazines, comics, articles, etc. and kind of made an art book with the pictures. They took an old book (mainly old, outdated school books) and filled them with the cut-outs and their own art. It sort-of became a journal of pictures. 

Here's some samples from mine (heh, I'm still working on it...and it's a great way to see where you were and how you've changed)
